OUR STORY
The idea for forming this group was the brainchild of Rev. Father Lukose Cheruvalel, sdb, the then Director of Snehalaya and Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Kamrup(Metro), Assam. He suggested the formation of an organization, consisting of women from various professions, which would work towards protection of child rights and named it Matri. MATRI was formally launched in January 2010. The vision document of MATRI was released on the 9 May 2010. The members of MATRI are women who represent all strata of society ranging from homemakers to professionals.
Mission
MATRI’s mission is to ensure the promotion and protection of Child Rights by organizing need based workshops and seminars in the society and by conducting regular counselling sessions for vulnerable children.
Matri aims at the capacity building of mothers and enhancing their parenting skills by organizing workshops and seminars so that mothers and guardians can keep building a healthy society where each child is ensured it’s rights and can grow up as a responsible citizen. Promoting new and positive parenting skills in a fast changing society is one of the objectives of Matri
